According to the Russian Federation President Decree No. 1107 of October 5, 2009 the Federal Agency for Management of Special Economic Zones was disbanded.

Powers for normative legal regulation, creation and management of any SEZs in the territory of the Russian Federation were delegated to the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation within which the Department for Special Economic Zones and Project Financing was created.

SEZ activities are supervised by:

  • The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation (the Department for Special Economic Zones and Project Financing);
  • Special Economic Zones JSC;
  • The Russian Federation Subjects (depending on the SEZ location);
  • Interaction with investors and international cooperation issues in the function of the Department for Special Economic Zones and Project Financing.
