St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (under the patronage and with participation of the President of the Russian Federation)

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) has been carried out since 1997.
Since 2006 SPIEF has acquired a renovated format under patronage and with participation of the President of the Russian Federation attracting over 2.5 thousand representatives of business, the world’s political elite, expert community, and mass media leaders to discuss the most significant matters of Russian and world’s economy.
Since 2006 the Forum Organizing Committee has been headed by Minister for Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a unique opportunity to:

generate new ideas and develop business,
participate in discussion of global economic matters with leaders of the world’s political and business community, leading economists and experts,
meet Russian political elite representatives,
gain new business partners and find opportunities of mutually beneficial investing in Russia,
see the amenity of the “capital of the North” of Russia during “twilight all night”.

Annually the Forum receives:

over 2,500 participants of the Forum official programme including 1,000 business community representatives and 1,500 representatives of foreign official delegations;
over 1,000 representatives of the leading world’s and Russian mass media.

For the whole SPIEF history agreements for several ten billion dollars have been signed on its platform.

Annually the formal programme comprises:

plenary sessions with key world experts on economic issues participating;
up to 30 working sessions;
over 40 presentations, press conferences and investment agreement signing ceremonies.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum programme is formed on the assumption of the current situation and global economy tendencies, taking into account key challenges that the world community and Russia face while deciding economic growth and social progress issues.

Traditionally, the RF President’s speech sets the tone of the actual agenda discussion at the first plenary meeting of the Forum. The agenda evolves in the main topic sections and sessions of the Forum official programme with participation of the world’s political and business elite representatives, leading economists and experts who believe that diversified international dialogue, intensive information sharing, and subject discussions assume paramount importance in the current context.
The Forum programme events encourage partnership development between business, political, intellectual and other community leaders so as to discuss and solve global development fundamental issues.
