On March 11, 2008, S.V. Chernyshov, Director of the Department for Foreign Economic Relations, had a meeting with Ms. Emma Udwin, Spokesperson of the European Commissioner for External Relations, in the premises of the Russian Federation Ministry for Economic Development and Trade.
Also, the Ministry for Economic Development and Trade was represented by V.A. Kalmykov, Deputy Director of the Department of Trade Negotiations, and A.A. Melnikov, Head of the Section for European Integration within the Department of Foreign Economic Relations.
The European side was represented by P. Vandoren, Deputy Head of the European Commission Delegation to Russia, and T. Hammaren, Head of the Economic Section of the European Commission Delegation to Russia.
The emphasis in the discussion was placed on the issues relating to outlooks for commencing negotiations in respect of the Russia-EU Strategic Partnership Agreement, Russia’s accession to the WTO, current situation in the sphere of trade & economic cooperation between Russia and EU in various domains.
