On December 27, 2006, V.V. Spassky, Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation with CIS Countries, took part as the head of the Russian delegation in the work of the 32nd meeting of the CIS Economic Council
At the meeting, Russia was also represented by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry and Energy, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Health and Social Development, Russian Agricultural Supervision Authority (Rosselkhoznadzor), Federal State Reserves Agency (Rosrezerv), A.I. Smirnov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian Federation at the Commission for Economic Issues of the CIS Economic Council, as well as S.K. Shubnyakov, Deputy Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation with CIS Countries, and staff of the Department for Economic Cooperation with CIS Countries of the Russian Federation Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
In total, 21 issues were considered at the meeting, including: draft package of joint measures of CIS countries for prevention of bird flu ingress to, and spread over, territories of CIS countries; progress of the Interstate Program for Creation of Information & Marketing Centers for Promotion of Goods and Services to National Markets of CIS Member Countries; granting to the Federal State Institution «Scientific Research Institute of Storage Problems» the status of the basic organization for CIS member countries in the domain of scientific and technology development of state material reserves systems. Estimates of expenditures for creation and development of the common air defense system of CIS member countries for 2007, and the consolidated budget of CIS executive bodies financed from budgets of CIS countries for 2007 were approved. Also, two draft agreements were considered, namely, on establishment of a CIS-wide market of electricity, and on cooperative struggle against circulation of fake medicines.
