On December 22, 2006, V.G. Saveliev, Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation, took part in the first meeting of the Russian-Ukrainian Interstate Commission in Kiev

Participants in the meeting stroke a balance for activities of the Commission's working bodies, namely, Committee for Economic Cooperation Affairs, Subcommittee for Humanitarian Cooperation Affairs, Subcommittee for International Cooperation, Subcommittee for Safety, and Subcommission for Issues Related with the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation and the Fleet?s Stay in the Territory of Ukraine. The whole range of Russian-Ukrainian relations was discussed.

The following documents were signed: Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Readmission; Protocol between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Making Amendments to the Intergovernmental Agreement of 1995 (with updating the number and names of state frontier crossing points); Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Mutual Protection of Intellectual Property Rights Exercised and Gained in the Course of Bilateral Collaboration in the Military Technical Sphere; Agreement between the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications of Russia and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine in the Sphere of Culture
