The establishment of Japanese and Russian Trade and Investment Promotion Desks
Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) and Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation (MEDT) for the convenience of companies and business associations of the two countries have agreed on the establishment of "Trade and Investment Promotion (TIP) Desks" both at METI and MEDT.
Companies and business associations can report and consult the TIP desks about business troubles and questions including what and how relating laws and regulations would be applied in each country.
Based on the agreement between Minister Toshihiro Nikai of METI and Minister German O. Gref of MEDT on November 17th 2005, officials in charge of the two ministries have fleshed out the details of TIP Desks.
1. Companies and business associations which face business troubles in the other country or which are not certain of what and how the other country has applied laws and regulations related to trade and investment can consult and report it to the corresponding TIP desk as the first contact point abroad.
(Note: the establishment of TIP Desks does not mean to prevent companies and business associations from consulting embassies and other organizations of both countries and such interactions are even encouraged in order to insure the efficiency of inquiries).
2. If necessary TIP Desks will take relevant measures about what has been reported such as delving the issue and identifying a government body in charge as soon as possible.
3. TIP Desk is not for consultations on individual business transactions or for business inquiries.
